Tokyo 2020 Olympics- Cheering for Ashinaga Kenjin Tatsujin Asako Takakura and Nadeshiko Japan

Head Coach of Japan Women’s National team Nadeshiko Japan, Asako Takakura, is also a member of Ashinaga’s Kenjin Tatsujin Council, supporting the Ashinaga Africa Initiative. Nadeshiko Japan begins their journey in the Tokyo Olympics in a match against Canada on July 21st. Ashinaga is proud and excited to be supporting Nadeshiko Japan!

Ashinaga’s relationship with Ms. Takakura goes back to 2012. One year after the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami, Ashinaga organized a charity soccer match between Brazil’s Sao Paolo Girl’s Youth team and the U-17 Tohoku Girl’s Select Team. At the time, Ms. Takakura, originally from Fukushima, was also the U-16 Japan Women’s National team coach and coached the U-17 Tohoku Girl’s Select Team.

From that point, Ms. Takakura took an interest in Ashinaga’s activities supporting orphaned students. She then became a member of the Kenjin Tatsujin Council, which supports the Ashinaga Africa Initiative, which aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders to contribute to the development of sub-Saharan Africa. Through their interactions, Ms. Takakura and Ashinaga’s President Tamai have talked many times about leadership and education.

We are sure that Nadeshiko Japan’s participation in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics will be an inspiration to orphaned students and their guardians. From all Ashinaga staff members and President Tamai, we are cheering you on to bring home the gold medal!

Let’s go Nadeshiko Japan!
